Fatcreations’ Scott Patron wins Cycle Show BikeRadar Jaw Droppers award

The Cycle Show has announced the winner of its BikeRadar Jaw Droppers competition – Fatcreations’ customised Scott e-MTB.

The Jaw Droppers display, secured by Litelok, saw a range of customised and one-off bikes showcased at the event in Alexandra Palace’s main hall on which visitors voted for their favourite. Brands competing included Cannondale, Enigma, Vielo, Chapter2, Lios, Festka and more.

Fatcreations founder Alistair McLean said: “I wanted the bike to represent the chaos that has become Fatcreations. It is humbling that our small little shed paint studio has erupted into this amazing chaotic dream.

“This is where the paint idea came from, a dreamy stormy rear half representing the beginnings of a frame paint – the prep, the gritty dirty work of getting the existing paint off of a frame, with the front of the bike transitioning into these sometimes wild and colourful creations that just make you smile.”

The inspiration around the choice of bike came from McLean’s own experiences: “The reason behind it being an e-bike is that I have a heart condition which means I have to moderate my heart rate. I can still enjoy riding with others on one of these.

“I loved the look of the Scott Patron eRide and we left no stone unturned with the effort we put in, from the copper leaf logos to painting the Enve rims, the bars, seat post, saddle, several of the covers that are essential with e-bikes.”

Fatcreations was awarded a cash prize of £1,500 which McLean has donated to a great cause. “The prize money is going to the Ride for Charlie foundation, a cause close to my heart. Charlie sadly passed away from a similar condition to myself and his parents, Nick and Sarah, are very good friends.

“We would like to thank Scott Bikes, Hope Tech, Saddleback, DMR, Continental Tyres and Peaty’s Products for the support and making this Ali’s dream e-bike.”

The Cycle Show took place at London’s Alexandra Palace from 22nd-24th April, running alongside the London eBike Festival powered by Shimano Steps. The show also saw Vello present its new folding electric bike, which weighs under 10kg, and Reilly Cycleworks also launched its new advanced road bike Fusion.
