Simplon confirmed in a statement that Andreas Hämmerle had passed away at the age of 55 on Thursday, 19th April.
Hämmerle was a shareholder and member of the advisory board of Simplon Holding HmbH, having previous held the position of managing director.
He was also responsible for product management, product development and marketing, and contributed to “countless innovations. Andreas left a long-standing impression on everyone he met,” said the statement.
Hämmerle retired from Simplon at the end of 2015 to devote more time to his family, but still held a big influence on the direction of the brand, contributing to ideas and mentoring staff.
“The entire Simplon team will miss him as a down to earth family man and will certainly never forget him,” concluded the statement.
