British-designed, British-built special edition bike homages FW Evans nine decade heritage

Evans commissions 90th anniversary bike from Pashley

High Street retailer Evans Cycles is celebrating its 90th year in the business with a FW Evans branded Pashley.

Based on Pashley’s Clubman Country model, the FW Evans 90th Anniversary Tourer is limited to an initial 26 piece run with an option to extend production to 90 pieces in total. Each bike is individually numbered via a top tube-mounted engraved brass plaque and finished in traditional British racing green powdercoat. The bike will be priced at £1,645.00 SRP, available from July.

Frederick W Evans designed his first bicycle in 1921 with an aim to create forward-thinking framesets and products for UK cyclists. By the mid ‘30s Evans held patents for innovative frame designs as well as the CTC Silver Plaque award for his patented dropout design.

Evans said: “Pashley is one of our favourite cycle brands here at Evans, we love their hand-crafted quality and their second-to-none finish. Still painstakingly hand-built by their time-served craftsmen in Stratford-upon-Avon, using traditional lugged and brazed construction methods that F.W. Evans himself would recognise and approve of, the choice seemed a logical one. When Pashley agreed to build a bike for us based on their ever-popular Clubman Country model, the F.W. Evans branded 90th Anniversary bike was born.”

The firm added that it had opted for a build typical for an FW Evans cycle in the ‘50s and ‘60s and is a wide-ranging and lightweight tourer most suitable to celebrate Evans’ roots.
