The organisers of mammoth cycle trade event Eurobike have announced that it will be giving the electric bike sector a much bigger presence at its 2010 show.
The event, running from Wednesday September 1st to Saturday 4th at Friedrichshafen, Germany, will see the electric sector become an ‘integral’ part of the show, with more exhibition space and testing courses for e-bikes, pedelecs and LEV accessories.
The testing course (for the fast class of LEVs) will be a first for Eurobike, which is also to collaborate with electric mobility promoters ExtraEnergy. Messe Friedrichshafen will now exclusively allocate exhibition space to LEV companies for the first time.
Eurobike project manager Stefan Reisinger said: “In future, we’ll be putting more focus on the subject of electric vehicles (LEVs) – both as a key exhibition theme in the halls and in terms of opportunities to test and experience the vehicles on our generous open-air courses.”
Germany’s cycle industry association ZIV has also got behind the e-bike cause – and Eurobike. Executive director Siegfried Neuberger said: “Over the past few years, it’s [electric bikes] been growing at a dizzying rate. In Germany, for instance, sales have quadrupled to 100,000 units.”
