London’s well-publicised Bicycle Revolution is getting another PR boost with six new short films, starring cycling celebrities and ordinary biking Londoners.
From today (August 20th) five of those films are available on Transport for London’s YouTube channel. The sixth film will be released the old-fashioned way in cinemas.
Radio One DJ Edith Bowman and X-Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary are among the well-known faces appearing in the films. Each film will concentrate on a different aspect of cycling in London, including Barclays Cycle Hire and the Cycle Superhighways. The cinema film will feature Mark Ronson’s new Bike Song track.
The Mayor’s transport adviser Kulveer Ranger said: “London’s cycling revolution will be televised in the form of these wonderfully-made little films. Cycling is the most civilised way to get around this great city and these films will spread the word and encourage more Londoners to hop on to their trusty metal steeds.”
Edith Bowman enthused about two wheels: “The great thing about cycling is the freedom it gives you to quickly get to where you want to go, that is why I was delighted to help TfL ‘spread the word’ about cycling."
Surface Transport MD at TfL David Brown added: “What’s so good about these films is they show real people using bikes and enjoying the freedom cycling brings.
“These films, along with Barclays Cycle Hire and Barclays Cycle Superhighways, will encourage many more Londoners to take to two wheels.”
