FreeGo Downunder is headed up by ex-Shell Australia exec Brian Almay, who also runs Easy2Ride Electric Bikes in the territory.
Almay spent the Australian winter months of 2011 researching electric bikes in the Middle East, Europe and the UK and saw an opportunity in the relatively underdeveloped Australian e-bike sector.
Following discussions with FreeGo Electric Bikes MD John Heath in the UK, Almay – who had enjoyed a long corporate career with Shell Australia – decided to support FreeGo in the Australia region.
Recent months have seen the firm showcase bikes at shows around the South East corner of Queensland.
“People always get off the bikes with what I’ve called the electric bike grin,” said Almay. “I just love showing the bikes and everyone is surprised with the quality and power of the FreeGo range of electric bikes.”
