The second best funded Millennium Commission event this year is the National Cycle Network. The best funded is the Dome at Greenwich. Next week the Millennium Commissioners are going to be asked to justify bailing out the Dome instead of helping other projects

Dome to get grilling

The Commissioners are to face a grilling next Thursday at a select committee at the Houses of Parliament. The recent signing over of wodges of extra cash to bail the Dome out will, no doubt, be of major interest to the media so expect plenty Dome-bashing next week.

Sustrans can’t benefit directly from the PR fallout they are much too polite and, anyway, need to keep in the Millennium Commission’s good books but there’s a strong pro-National Cycle Network theme developing in the media. Hopefully this will build to a crescendo during the Millennium Festival of Cycling.
