Future's MBUK is still the UK's best-selling cycle magazine but it's dropping readers year-on-year. Cycling Plus, from the same publisher, is adding readers year-on-year. The latest ABC figures show that the cycle magazine sector is experiencing a period of contraction.

Cycling Plus wins magazine growth race

The Audit Bureau of Circulation’s concurrent release of all printed media sales figures was published yesterday.

The cycle titles registered with ABC are Cycling Weekly, Cycle Sport, and Mountain Bike Rider (all IPC titles); and Cycling Plus and MBUK from Future Publishing.

The ABC figures below are average monthly sales figures for the period 1st January 2002 to 31st December 2002. Figures in brackets are for Jan-Dec 2000.

Cycling Plus: 21 839 (18 618)

Cycle Sport: 20 027 (20 667)

Cycling Weekly: 28 204 per week (30 657)

MBR: 36 765 (40 200)

MBUK: 50 914 (57 663)
