Industry-funded Bike Hub app has been given larger screen support for the new iPhone. Revised Android app due out soon, too.

Cycle satnav app updated for iPhone 5

The Bike Hub cycle satnav smartphone app is now on version 3.1. The iPhone app is now in iTunes; the Android version is due out later today.

The app is free, funded by the industry’s Bike Hub levy. As well as routing cyclists on bike paths and quiet roads, the app has a ‘find a bike shop’ function for directing cyclists to nearest indepedent bicycle retailers.

The iPhone version of the refreshed app has been updated with iOS6 compatibility and also has support for the larger screen on the new iPhone 5. Other updates include the option to change route type once a journey has been planned (from, say, quietest route to fastest); and audible directions now play when the app is in the background.
