CSG UK will launch the Guru Bike Fit Experience in the UK market this week through three pilot retail partners.
Leisure Lakes (Daventry), Tri UK (Yeovil) and Hoops Velo (Farnham) will be the first three stores to incorporate Guru’s fit system and sales tool in their businesses.
Tri UK will showcase the system on their stand at the London Bike Show February 13th to 16th at ExCeL, supported by staff from Guru.
According to CSG, the Guru Experience is a revolutionary bicycle fitting and model selection sales system, based on an innovative and patented dynamic fit unit, computer and hydraulically controlled to alter the riders position and riding terrain.
The unit can tip and tilt to emulate climbing and descending whilst the riding position can be adjusted infinitely in any direction and toggled between saved fits for comparison. The process includes a 3D body scan of the rider using technology developed by Microsoft for the medical industry based on facial recognition software.
The Guru experience is ‘brand agnostic’ and incorporates a wide database of bicycle models and sizes from most significant brands in the industry to recommend the correct size and model of bike for riders in many segments including road, off road and multisport.
The growth of bike fitting has seen it become increasingly important for enthusiast consumers, especially in the road and multisport markets. In a recent poll (Aug 2013) of 170 independent bike dealers in North America by specialist triathlon website Slowtwitch.com, dealers that had invested in a modern fit system saw triathlon bike sales increase 44 per cent Y-O-Y whilst dealers that did not have a system saw a 62 per cent decrease.
