Core Bike 2012 preview: Hope, Hotlines, i-ride, Ison, Mojo Suspension, Silverfish and Paligap

Hope
Hope’s room will again be full of the latest parts launched at the recent trade shows and maybe a few extra surprises not already seen, the brand reveals.

The 1295 and 29er wheel-set along with the recently introduced Bash Guards and Chain Rings will all be on show alongside the V-Twin cable to hydraulic brake convertors. Hope will also have the final production version of the Flat pedal at Core with confirmed pricing and availability. Dealers will also have a further look at the cassette in the works.

Hope will also be demoing its recently launched business-to-business site, with easy product finder, extensive parts lists and helpful ‘how-to’s.

Hotlines
For its debut showing Hotlines will be displaying some show exclusives from the likes of Nuke Proof, Ragley, Lynskey, Lapierre, NS Bikes, Manitou, Hayes, Answer, Sun Ringle, OneTen, Spank, Sombrio, Gaerne, Cratoni and WTB.

Among the highlights is the NS Bikes Metropolis 1, a dedicated dirt jump bike. The geometry and spec have been chosen by NS Bikes top riders, like the UK’s Sam Pilgrim. The full NS Metropolis range will be on display at Core Bike, along with the full suspension Soda Slopestyle bike.

Another highlight is the Lynskey Helix OS, which takes the signature Helix tube set and adds current component design elements – like a SRAM Press-fit 30 bottom bracket, increasing stiffness. Hotlines will have a custom painted Helix OS on display at Core along with 2012 MTB’s like the Pro 29 and Ridgeline LT.

The Gaerne Carbon G.Air features a carbon fibre sole, which ensures light weight and complete stiffness in order to maximise power transfer into pedaling action. Front and back rubber anti-skid walking inserts and assorted special features have helped it become the shoe of choice for many Pro Tour riders. The G.Air and the rest of the 2012 Gaerne range will be at Core Bike.
The Lapierre X-Flow 912 has adapted the patented Pendbox technology to cross country trail riding. It provides pedaling efficiency thanks to Pendbox technology, while the carbon and alloy versions of the frame are lightweight and clean with hydroformed tubes and internal cable routing. There are six X-Flow models, all with specifically developed and tuned FOX suspension, exclusive to Lapierre.

i-ride
The Argon 18 E-118 is 14 per cent lighter and eight per cent faster, but is a frame that has to be seen in the flesh (we haven’t, yet) to be fully appreciated, which is where Core comes into it. The 2012 Argon 18 range will also debut the new 3T Stealth series bars stems and seatposts.

Red Wind clincher carbon deep-section wheels are new to Fulcrum’s range and the top spec 105 XLR Dark Label versions will be gracing the i-ride stand. A Continental Tyres expert will be on hand to answer dealer questions and show off the WC-winning Grand Prix TT Clincher.

Core Bike will also be the first chance to preview and pre-order the autumn/winter clothing ranges from Northwave and Campagnolo Sportswear. I-ride will also be showing Northwave’s innovative, Speedplay compatible, Extreme shoes. The Extreme 3V version is claimed to be the lightest set of road shoes in the world at 199 grams.

Deuter’s new 2012 product will have just arrived in-stock and new models include a fully-revised Compact series with more Air Comfort suspended back systems.

i-ride will host seminars from Zipvit Sport’s expert nutritionist David Smith who works closely with Zipvit’s supported athletes and teams.

There will be an Eddy Merckx competition promoted at Core, offering dealers the chance to visit the Eddy Merckx Factory, ride the hallowed cobbles of the Flanders Sportive, and even win a Trip in the TopSport Vlaanderen Team car for the Tour of Flanders Race Day.

Ison
Ison celebrates 20 years of supplying the bicycle trade in 2012 and Core Bike will see the start of the festivities with many promotional gifts for dealers featuring the 20 years logo. Ison will of course also have many new products from its brands on show in the Indianapolis and Imola rooms.

Highlights include the Identiti Krisis MX range of BMX race frames, featuring unique features like Taper Lock dropouts and Twin Box seatstays. To compliment these frames Halo and Gusset are producing race specific wheels and parts.
The brand new lightweight CNC-machined Gusset Nitro pedals with unique ‘Maz’ pins will be on show in many colours. SP Dyno hub, a new brand for Ison, will be displayed too – reportedly the world’s smallest and lightest hub dynamo and perfect for touring and commuting, featuring very competitive pricing (around RRP £100).

The Society fork range has been greatly expanded from the Dirt Jump models and 2012 sees the introduction of new models for All-Mountain, XC, Trail and 29er bikes. Halo has several new rims, hubs and wheels for 2012, including an expansion of its road offerings, as well as BMX race rims and wheels.

The new Renthal Integra direct mount DH stem will feature, as will TSG’s helmets with an expanded catalogue, including the new superlight XC/Trail helmet and the Substance, with removable peak.

Sturmey Archer, debuted last year with Ison, has a new S2 Kickback hub to quickly convert a fixed gear into a two-speed freewheel urban bike using the same single chain without having to install cables and levers. Representatives from Schwalbe, Fibrax and Weldtite will be on hand, as will many Ison staff and brand managers. MRP, White Brothers, ODI grips, Dia Compe, Sunrace are just some of the other quality brands that will be on show.

A large selection of new Surly, Salsa, All City and Civia bikes will be exhibited, as well as many parts from their ranges in Ison’s second room, Imola, as well as Rohloff, which still produces some of the best internal geared hubs available, Ison says.

Mojo Suspension
As FIRST time exhibitors at Core Bike, Mojo Suspension tells BikeBiz it is extremely excited about the opportunity to join some of the industry’s leading distributors in meeting with our valued dealers.

“We’ll be displaying products from the 2012 Fox Racing Shox range, the most comprehensive and technologically advanced yet.

“Most importantly we’ll be there to explain in detail what makes Fox Racing Shox the market leader in suspension. Whether it’s suspension setup, service, tuning or technologies we’ll be looking forward to answering your questions.”

The Mojo Suspension brand will also be demonstrating its new shock dyno tester. This clever piece of kit takes Mojo’s tuning service to a new level. Using software developed specifically for Mojo, this machine allows them to maximise the performance of each tuning job, tailored to a rider’s requirements.

Silverfish
Silverfish UK will once again be displaying fresh product from some of the world’s leading brands and with an ever-growing portfolio of brands the Silverfish room is one not to be missed by any IBD who attends the show. New signing Yeti Cycles will be at Core for the first time with Silverfish. A strong 2012 range includes three models based around the new Switch technology, including the new SB-66 carbon frame and the 29-inch SB-95. Not only does the range feature high performance full suspension frames, but also complete bikes, hardtails and build kits will be available to order.

2012 sees a fresh focus from Race Face as the brand enters its first full year under new owner and former employee Chris Tutton. On display will be a full range of armour, softgoods and new components from the brand including the all-new carbon DH crank, Chester chainsets and updated handlebars.

Spanish-founded Mondraker already has a World Cup winning DH bike in the bag and is now turning its attention to XC having created the Podium Carbon hardtail.

German brand EVOC sees a new range of MTB packs arriving, including the new Enduro pack which is designed to meet the needs of the growing gravity market and an all-new six litre day pack in all the usual EVOC colours.

On display will be the new 2012 range of softgoods, shoes and helmets from the Spanish brand, which continues to score highly in magazine test reviews.

Formula has left no brake untouched. Alongside the revamp of all models, new products for 2012 have been launched too, including the new RO Oval systems.

2012 sees e*thirteen expand its range into wheels and pedals as well as chainguides. Four wheelsets will be available and on display, all featuring scandium rims and e*thirteen’s own hubs to build some of the strongest and lightest wheelsets on the market. As well as wheels, two new pedals will be available to view, as will the full updated range from the brand.

Paligap
Paligap will be launching a number of new brands at the next Core Show and new products from Ritchey, Fast Forward Wheels, DMT, Saris, Powertap and VDO to name but a few. As well as these new products Paligap will be holding the European launch of Avanti Bikes and showing off BMX brand ABD, as well as specific Powertap and Cycleops areas. Sounds like there’s a lot going on with the distributor, which is why it has expanded into two rooms for the show.

Paligap managing director David Lane tells BikeBiz: “We are confident 2012 is going to be a big year at Paligap and with the brands we have we will be able to offer the dealer great margins from top-end brands.” Avanti will come to the UK with road, mountain, path and trail ready bikes. Also appearing will be Axiom Performance Gear, with innovative and affordable cycling components and accessories for a wide range of riders and budgets. It offers a lifetime guarantee on most goods too.

Paligap will also bring Brev. M, CST, Cipollini bikewear and bicycles, Fast Forward Wheels, Muc-Off, No Tubes, Portland Design works, Ritchey, Saris, Powertap, Cycelops, Indoor Cycles, Solo, Torq and Diamant (DMT) footwear.
New signing Biologic will also feature, as well as last year’s newbie – VDO cycle computers.
