Dahon UK sold 40 percent more folding bikes in Q1 2003 than the same period last year. This is being put down to London's £5 congestion charge.

Congestion charge boost for Dahon sales

“The congestion charge was a bold move by the city of London but by almost all accounts, it’s been a huge success,” said Dr. David Hon, president and founder of Dahon California Inc.

“Cycling has become faster and safer and the city more “livable”. We expect that a lot of other cities are watching London’s example closely and will follow suit in the near future. We need more people like Ken Livingstone to push for sustainable transport. Naturally we are very pleased that our bicycles are part of the solution and are playing an important alternative transport role.”

Dahon bicycles are distributed in the UK by Mark Bickerton (that’s him above) of Cyclemotion Ltd.
