Because of the route’s leaking by France2, there are few surprises in today’s announcement by the organisers of the Tour, see the link below.
But the graphic above is cute. It’s the official Tour poster and will be screen-printed onto all sorts of promotional materials for the start on July 5th.
The route was revealed today at the Palais des Congres in the presence of nearly all the living winners of the race, including Lance Armstrong. As per the TV station’s leak, the route will follow the original 1903 Tour, which visited six cities: Paris, Lyon, Marseilles, Toulouse, Bordeaux, and Nantes. However, some new-to-Le Tour locations have also been added, including Meaux, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, Saint-Dizier, Sallanches, Gaillac, Cap’Découverte, Saint-Maixent L’Ecole and Pornic.
The Tour starts on Saturday 5th July at the Eiffel Tower with a prologue running along the banks of the River Seine, finishing, as expected, at La Maison de la Radio. The Tour visits Montgeron’s café Le Reveil Matin (where the 1903 Tour started) on Sunday. For a full breakdown of the route, click here:
