Cannondale’s helmet range, first announced last summer, has now arrived in the UK.
Distributed by Cycling Sports Group UK (and previewed at the company’s Ride the Revolution show), the product line-up includes four models aimed from ultra-light high-end road to that for the everyday commuter.
The high-end road and mountain bike helmets – the Ryker and the Teramo – feature SI Aluminium Exoskeleton reinforcements, allowing bigger venting on each helmet for enhanced airflow and no loss of protection.
UK parts and accessories purchasing manager Matt Farrow commented: “It’s a great range of helmets for every rider, with a unique adjuster system ensuring each helmet has a quality fit. The Cannondale Product Development Team has created a range of helmets which meet the demands of today’s cyclist, whatever their style or budget.”
The range features the fashion-conscious commuter-aimed Quick, retailing for £29.99. The Radius is pitched as a low profile, in-town helmet, that transitions to ‘weekend warrior’ duty and retails for £39.99. The Ryker is Cannondale’s fast and aggressively-styled MTB Helmet, designed as an all-purpose Cross-Country / Trail lid and incorporates Cannondale’s SI Alloy Reinforcements and graphics embedded into the polycarbonate shell, so they won’t chip or scrape off. It retails for £49.99.
The Teramo weighs just 245 grams and features 23 large vents and SI Alloy Exoskeleton Reinforcement, is the top of the range road race helmet. It retails for £69.99.
Every helmet has embedded a nylon chassis that helps maintain helmet integrity in the case of a crash. The helmets are made from dual density EPS (expanded polystyrene) co-moulded (moulded in one) with both high and low density EPS using a cone shaped internal interface between the foam layers. Cannondale said it has been able to “create zones that better disperse and redirect impact energy in the event of a crash”.
Cannondale’s new proprietary fit system features a soft touch, form-fitting pad using an onboard micro-adjustment dial to twist for the perfect fit. This makes one-handed adjustments possible whilst riding.
