With 15 days left on its crowdfunding campaign Tailfin, a pannier rack for carbon bikes, is so far £31,500 ahead of its £50,000 Kickstarter goal. Inventor Nick Broadbent of Bristol is now seeking an industry distributor.
The product clearly has potential – it exceeded the £50,000 funding goal within four days.
The Tailfin carbon rack can be used with existing panniers as well as a 600gramTailfin pannier bag.
The £132 quick-release rack is mounted to a carbon-framed bike by forming a stable triangle between the ends of a bespoke skewer and the seatpost (the seatpost connector is carbon friendly and designed to fit almost any size).
Broadbent is a mechanical engineer and has previously designed and launched a number of his own products.
He says: “Creating a light and elegant product was important, but it was critical that the product function was as also better than existing racks and panniers.
The estimated delivery of the Tailfin rack and pannier is October.
"Once the campaign ends I’ll be eager to enter conversations with distributors," Broadbent told BikeBiz.
"I’d also be open to investor talks. I’m ideally looking for investors from within the bike industry."
