The British folding bike brand shows off its latest at the London Bike Show 2013

Brompton’s limited edition Barça and online bike builder

Brompton’s latest limited edition model, the latest in a semi-regular line of limited edition bikes (like last year’s London Brompton team up with illustrator Vic Lee), is the Barça Brompton, bringing some continental flavour to the UK brand.

The blue and orange gloss finish colour-coordinated Barça comes with its own accessories – like a matching S Bag flap, and matching mudguards, ltd ed saddle and grips. The Barça was designed in collaboration with Barcelona-based artist David Torrents, a relationship that came about through a contact at Brompton’s Spanish distributor.

Also at the London Bike Show, Brompton was showing off a new London-themed S bag flap, a more lively edition of the brand’s interchangeable flaps. Other highlights included new rims, more responsive brake levers, new chainset and the toolkit, the latter seen at a number of global trade shows previously.

On the retail chain side, Brompton is looking to go live with an online bike builder, where the customer will able to customise his or her ride to some degree, then the order will be sent to a local IBD for set up. Timings for the roll out are not yet finalised.

There will be a round-up of London Bike Show news in the February edition of BikeBiz magazine. In the meantime we’ve a growing gallery of pics from the show on our Facebook pages (why not give us a ‘like’ while you’re there?).
