Brompton has revealed its first new handlebar configuration in seven years – the H type.
Joining its M, S and P Types, the H Type was developed following requests from taller riders and those requesting a more upright riding position. The height of the grips from the ground has been raised by 60mm compared to the classic M type. Forward reach to the grips from the saddle has increased by around 13mm.
The added height and reach has been achieved by spacing the handlebar hinge 30mm further away from the headset. The hinge protrudes further than on other models because of the change, but the highest point on the folded bike remains the saddle – so H Types will fit into all existing transport bags and covers.
The weight increase over an M Type is approximately 100g, dependent on the model.
Also launched at Eurobike is Brompton’s new Mini O Bag. The bag (pictured in Arctic Blue) is the second product from its cooperation with Ortlieb, which was launched last year. Like the O Bag, the Mini O – which is significantly smaller than the rest of Brompton’s luggage range – is designed for Brompton’s front carrier system.
Foam inserts, available separately from Ortlieb, turn the Mini O into a tailored camera bag, which can also be used for sunglasses, wallets, etc.
Sporting welded construction, the Mini O is built to protect its contents from the weather. It also has a clip on shoulder strap and is available in Arctic Blue and White for 2012.
Brompton is exhibiting in Hall B1 – Stand 507 at the show.
