This week saw the London Cycling Awards take place in the crypt of St Martin-in-the Fields Church in Trafalgar Square.
Hosted by Ned Boulting and run by the London Cycling Campaign in association with the London Evening Standard, prizes were received by a diverse roster of names including Bradley Wiggins, Rapha, Brompton, road.cc, Cycle Surgery and London Bike Kitchen.
Initiatives and projects were honoured too, including, TfL’s procurement policy for safer lorries, Bike Around The Borough, Heathrow Cycle Hub and Camden and City Of London ‘two-way cycling one-way streets’.
Cycle Surgery picked up Best Retailer. Cycle Surgery CEO Hamish Mansbridge said: “Competition for this award was tough and we’re delighted to have won. This award was voted by the public, which makes winning particularly special, and is a great testimony to the hard work all our staff provide every day.”
Brompton won Best Product. Managing director Will Butler-Adams said: “This award is a great recognition of the success we have had manufacturing our folding bikes in London for the last 25 years. Awards like this mean a lot to everyone at the company, manufacturing is a difficult industry and to get this recognition is fantastic."
Best Cycling Communication Award was won by road.cc. Editor Tony Farrelly paid tribute to the team behind the site: "It’s extremely gratifying and also rather humbling to win an award voted for by the cycling public but we couldn’t have done it without the hard work and dedication of the team that put the site together – their work is what’s made road.cc a site worth voting for."
