Headlined as a 'revolution' the bicycling boom is described thus: "Britain is in the grip of a cycling revolution as clogged roads, concern at global warming caused by air pollution and the quest for improved fitness persuade millions to opt for pedal power."

Britain embraces the bicycle, says The Independent

The newspaper report – which was picked out for mention on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning – said that in London, trips by bike have increased by 50 per cent in five years to 450,000 per day. And the Indie reports that the latest usage stats from Andy Cope of Sustrans says there has been a 15 per cent increase in journeys on the National Cycle Network, a rise to 232 million journeys.

In the previous year the rise was 11 percent.
