Free to be listed web portal does the leg work for consumers, recommending local retailers with stock

Bikmo.com cycling goods search engine builds in retail relationship

Bikmo.com has introduced a cycling product specific search engine, designed around recommending local retailers who are signed up.

When a prospective buyer searches a product on Bikmo, the engine picks up which retailers have the item in stock, both online and locally, for retailers that are signed up. Results will display the nearest retailer with the product available in the top three search results.

Boasting over 50,000 products, the engine refreshes with over 3/4 million retailer checks nightly. Users can set up a virtual Bikeshed, adding wish list ’Shelves’ to add any products to, then share that Shelf via social media or email. Bikmo.com can even alert customers when products on their Shelf hits a certain price, helping create sales.

Bikmo.com has even gone to the effort to program in the many SKUs, standards (including bottom bracket and headset compatibility) and sizes into its product data, ensuring the buyer gets the right fit first time. This Find+Fit function will launch in Summer 2014.

With six staff working on developing the site, as well as inputting the vast amount of data needed to keep it fresh, founder David George told BikeBiz: "We can accept any store that has an electronic point of sale system or online shop and it’s free to list. On Bikmo.com we’ll have a traffic light system that shows on Google Maps which retailers in the region have stock. A retailer who logs their details can include their web and store address, phone details and much more. We’re can work with any retailers EPOS provider to ensure the system runs effortlessly for stores. Retailers can even contact their EPOS provider about being listed, should they prefer."

The more a user purchases and reviews products via Bikmo.com, the more ‘rewards’ they can earn through the site, which ultimately results in a series of exclusive special offers in conjunction with retailers.

If a retailer is partnered with Cyclescheme, icons can be included in a listing to reflect this service.

Retailers can quickly add their details to Bikmo.com here, without cost. Retailers can also make contact via hello@bikmo.com or on 07860 388444.
