'Bicycle mechanic in your pocket' iPhone app upsizes to iPad.

Bikedoctor app ports to the iPad

Andreas Kambanis of the Londoncyclist blog has launched Bike Doctor for iPad. The new edition joins the existing repair apps that are available for iPhone and Android smartphones.

Bike Doctor for iPad gives cyclists 42 step-by-step instructions for repairing bikes. It costs £2.99.

Kambanis created the app after a frustration with over-complicated bike maintenance manuals.

Common bike repairs such as punctures and squeaky brakes, as well as more advanced repairs, such as bleeding disk brakes, are featured in the app.

Kambanis said: “I nearly gave up on maintaining my bike myself, after getting frustrated with all the bike maintenance books I had read. I decided there must be more cyclists like me out there who have tried and failed to follow other guidebooks. I created Bike Doctor to be an easy to follow guide that would always be available, whether you are out cycling or at home.”

Kambanis started Londoncyclist.co.uk in 2007.
