Women-centric consumer bike site launches

Bike Envy has female cyclists in its sights

A new female cyclist site – BikeEnvy.co.uk – has arrived, designed to provide women with cycle news, what to wear, where to ride and how to get the most out of cycling.

The site will include reviews, features, race reports, tips and a community-driven forum.

Bex Hopkins, cycle journalist and former DH and XC mounatin bike racer created the site with road and track racer Jan Birkmyre.

“There is a big hole in the online and print publication arena where female bikers are not fully catered for and that is where www.BikeEnvy.co.uk fits in," explained Hopkins. "We cover all disciplines and encourage a healthy community and lively forum for discussions where women will feel comfortable to chat, arrange rides and ask for advice from our experts.”

Hopkins has written for Cycling Weekly, Cycling Plus, MBUK, What Mountain Bike and Cycle Sport magazine. Hopkins also founded SheCycles.com with Magicalia.

Birkmyre is a regular contributor to various cycling titles. She started riding and racing in 2002 at the age of 35, and by 2006 was five times World Masters Track Champion and holds the World Masters record for the 500TT.
