Princess Juliana of the Netherlands - famous for shunning royal limos in favour of self-propelled, two-wheeled transport - was buried on Tuesday with full State honours.

She died on Saturday. Living to 94, she was a good advert for the health-enhancing benefits of regular cycling.

She was queen of the Netherlands for 32-years, abdicating in favour of her eldest daughter, Beatrix, in 1980.

The Dutch Queen Mother was officially Princess of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau and Duchess of Mecklenburg.

The funeral ceremony was held Tuesday at the royal crypt in Delft and was attended by royals and dignitaries from around the world. None, to this writer’s knowledge, arrived on bicycles…
