Bicycle Association joins The Times as a sponsor of the Get Britain Cycling inquiry.

Bicycle industry stumps up cash for the parliamentary cycling inquiry

The Bicycle Association of Great Britain is to help fund the current parliamentary inquiry on cycling. The writing of the ‘Get Britain Cycling’ report, and transcription of witness statements, is being paid for by The Times; the Bicycle Association is paying for the report to be designed and printed.

The Bicycle Association is also paying for the launch reception for the report in the House of Commons on 25th April.

The bicycle industry raises £350,000 per year for cycling causes and funds initiatives such as the Sustrans’ Big Pedal and the Bike Hub smartphone app. On the political front, the Bicycle Association part funds the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group. The industry body has been an active lobbyist for cycling – including separated "cycleways" – since the 1970s, having created and funded the British Cycling Bureau which launched the National Plan for Cycling in 1972.
