Kona Clump dirt jumper John Cowan will be sitting in a beach chair on his back porch with a fistful of cash to dole out to the best dirt jumpers at the first 'John Cowan Backyard Jam' dirt jump contest on October 9th in San Diego, California, the day before the start of Interbike's On-Dirt Demo

Backflip specialist invites dirt jumpers to pre-Interbike leap fest

The comp will be be held on Cowan’s private dirt jumps in San Marcos, California, 30 minutes north of San Diego, and a 4.5 hour drive from Interbike in Las Vegas.

Twenty pro MTB dirt jumpers will be invited to participate in the event and will be riding for $3500 in prize money: $3000 divided between the top five riders and $500 for the ‘Sickest Trick’ of the day. The format of the comp is jam-style and scored by three judges, as well as the riders themselves.

The riders will be selected by Decline Magazine, Freeride Entertainment, and Cowan.
