UK bikepacking founder says "ability to claim we're waterproof was bugging him"

Apidura tests the water with fully waterproof premium line

"Being unable to say ‘yes, it’s waterproof’, was really bugging me," says Apidura spokesperson James Black. "But now we can with the addition of a premium line."

Revealed stateside at Interbike, Apidura’s 13 product line now carries a premium level, which does away with stitching and moves to welded seams. The popular rubberised contact points remain and bag sizes will be similar to the current catalogue. To begin with it’s the below saddlebag that’s testing the water, but BikeBiz was told of a handlebar bag currently in the prototype stages.

Being fully sealed, compression capability is handle via some clever venting where water shouldn’t reach.

Bar/stem mounted feed bags and frame packs for a semi-compact geometry (in multiple sizes) are also now in production for early 2016 availability. These will carry a removeable shelf to house a bladder.
