Brand lends its backing to the inclusive cycle event series, aimed at a range of levels

Altura gets behind Velo29 Events

Apparel brand Altura Technical Bikewear has teamed up with Velo29 for 2013.

Velo29-Altura will deliver inclusive events throughout the year across the North East of England, pitched at all levels of cyclist.

Both Velo29 and Altura are aiming to grow cycling with the series of events. The Velo29-Stockton Cycling Festival, for instance, is somewhere a young child can arrive and ride the Sky Ride on safe closed roads then watch world class riders in the Grand Prix, with the idea that the child can return to the event year after year, progressing through the events.

Velo29 Events arrived on the scene in 2010 with an autumn series. It said: "Our ambition was to make the biggest, most fun and well ran cycle events accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Very quickly our unique angle of great fun, high profile, all inclusive cycle racing and non-competitive events caught on and by 2012 the portfolio of events included a Premier Calendar, two popular Sportives, an Elite Men’s Criterium Series Event and one of the most exciting weekends of Cycling in the UK – Stockton Cycling Festival. The ambition of getting people on their bike and enjoying some high quality events had become a reality."

Ian Young, Altura brand manager, added: “We are extremely excited about this new partnership. Velo 29 have a fantastic reputation for organising successful, high profile events which are enjoyed by a wide variety of riders.

"The guys are passionate about riding and encouraging new people in to the sport, which aligns perfectly with Altura’s brand ethos of producing high quality cycle apparel for all levels of rider. The events planned for 2013 are sure to be bigger and better than ever and we look forward to working closely with Velo 29 over the coming years.”
