Entries for Yorkshire mountain bike race open

Altura becomes Nutracker series sponsor

Altura has given long-term backing to the Nutcracker mountain bike series, now in its fourth year.

With the cycling world’s attention to turn to Yorkshire this summer, local Zyro-owned clothing brand Altura has thrown its weight behind the event as the headline sponsor.

Ian Young, Altura Brand Manager at Zyro, said: “We are delighted to be in involved in the Nutcracker series, encouraging all ages and abilities to get out and enjoy mountain biking with a competitive edge. The local nature of the events, fantastic organisation and the variety of participants makes it a perfect fit for our growing clothing brand. With so much media hype around the growth of road cycling we feel it is vital to continue to back all disciplines and many people forget how big the UK mountain bike scene is.”

Long term partners RWD Brakes continue to support the series through 2013, together with Biketreks of Ambleside and cleaning brand Rhino Goo.

The series kicks off in style with a return to Dalby – the Great Yorkshire Forest on Sunday March 10th. The event promises to be a nostalgic one for Dalby Bike Barn and Pace Cycles owner Adrian Carter, who initiated the trend of MTB racing in Dalby Forest back in the late 1990s. With this in mind, Nutcracker Racing have teamed up with Dalby Bike Barn to deliver an all new course, starting and finishing at the Barn, which is located in Low Dalby village adjacent to the visitor centre.

Entry fee prices have been held at 2012 levels and the guys at Nutcracker Racing have announced that any profits made from the 2013 series will fund a small Youth racing team. Details will be announced over the coming weeks and youngsters will be invited to apply for a place on the team following Nutcracker Altura 1 at Dalby Bike Barn.

Following Nutcracker Altura 1 at Dalby Bike Barn, the series returns on Easter Sunday – 31 March. Details of this event are to be released shortly.
