Electric bike builder and supplier AlienOcean has opened a brand new plant in Fife after combining two electric brands under the company banner.
The Lochgelly facility has combined Alien Bikes and Synergie Bikes. The former was formerly built at Kirkcaldy and the latter at Inverkiething.
AlienOcean has also recently picked up exclusive UK distribution for Golden Motors of China.
AlienOcean founder Bob Watson said: “This allows us to combine the expertise and knowledge that has been gained by these companies over the last three years and creates a market-leading company providing the state-of-the-art electric bikes for all levels of demand.
“Lochgelly becomes the European hub for operations and we can step up production and incorporate the new exclusive UK dealership for Golden Motors of China.”
Watson began building electric bikes three years ago and now AlienOcean offers electric bikes and conversion kits. Watson also opened the Scottish eBike Centre in Kinross, offering customers chance to try before they buy, hire and buy e-bikes.
Watson added: “Working with the e-bike community has been the key to our success. Discussions with ebikers identified the drawbacks in many electric bikes – weight, battery technology, quality issues and the like – and after listening to them I have developed a range of bikes and kits that have eliminated those problems.
“However, the success in developments has meant demand increasing and we now need to expand the operation in Lochgelly to satisfy that demand.”
