Bargains.co.uk wants smaller e-tailers as partners

Advertise your close-out stock on new website

According the Revolution, the marketing magazine, a new online shopping directory, bargains.co.uk, is being launched to offer smaller e-tailers access to more visitors.

The service will allow retailers to add details of their own special offers and discounts to the bargains.co.uk database and provide a link back to the web site where orders can be placed.

With around 200 smaller retailers and 50 larger groups already signed up, the company hopes to have around 4,000 products on offer by the time it launches later this month, reports Revolution.

The site is designed to offer merchants a fast means to dispose of unwanted stock, such as end-of-line and last season’s products.

"As the concept builds we hope to add a search engine, possibly an auction channel and build on b2b," said Simon Marshall, business development manager at e-commerce firm Walsh Simmons.

Although the site is free to smaller retailers advertising up to 10 offers, it will generate cash through partner and panel programmes.

Retailers who wish to display a large number of items can post bulk offers, with commission being charged on items sold.
