Nat Ross won last weekend's solo category in the Saab-Salomon Mountain Mayhem on a 29-inch wheel Gary Fisher Sugar292. Gary Fisher, the man, also rode the event in the solo category, managing 11 laps. Fisher had spent the two weeks prior to the event touring Europe to promote the 29inch concept.

29-incher wins 24-hour race with 28-lap scorcher

The Mountain Mayhem is the biggest, and the oldest, 24 hour race in Europe. Ross led the field of 80 solo riders from the start.

"The 29er gave Nat the ability to cruise with little effort over the rough course," said Trek’s Brian Buckle.

"It was very gratifying for Gary [Fisher] to finish his [European tour] with this major win [from a rider using] one of his bikes."
